Stonefeast is located in Virginia, more specifically in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Winchester, Virginia. I do not have a public shop. All public contact is done via the website, email, festivals or special shows.
I basically run this little business with my wife’s periodic help plus the help of one silent partner. My wife serves as a sanity check on what I do and identifies issues with in-process pieces. So this is a very small operation.
My background is actually mechanical engineering, and I have degrees in that discipline. However, when I first started college I also took art courses because I wasn’t sure which route to choose, engineering or art. My mother was a landscape painter and I have one son who has an art-focused career. Other family members have either dabbled in artistic endeavors or had an art focus in their careers at one time. Art, of some type then, has always been in our family.
Stone and stonework has been an interest for many years. Now I’m talking about building stone. Patios, veneer work and stone walls have long been an intermittent hobby. Certainly stone jewelry is at a much smaller scale than building stone, but the interest has been there.
So all of these things, the interest in artistic endeavors, the engineering technical training, and the fascination with stone helped fuel this interest in stone jewelry. It’s awesome jewelry and I’m proud to create pieces that are unique, one of a kind, and somehow seem to relate to people so well. Please visit the stonefeast blog and FAQ for additional insight.
Hope you enjoy the website and jewelry, Best to you - Bill Lewis
