Description: This leaf-shaped Sonora Sunrise pendant shows a predominantly two-color version of this material. This material originated from the Sonora, Mexico area. The red/orange background is dramatically crossed by a blue-green line, which has some trace of black in it. The colors are very crisp in this pendant, and they show up well. This material always polishes to a satin finish. A sterling silver post bail tops off the pendant. This color combination is stunning and always draws attention. Approximate Size: The top is 3/16” wide and the widest point is 1 & 5/16”. Height is 2 & 1/16”, not including the fitting. Thickness is 3/16”.
Care: This is a fairly soft stone falling in at 3.5-4 on the Mohs hardness scale. This means you should store it where it will not rub up against other harder objects. Avoid things like placing it unprotected in the bottom of a purse, backpack or gym bag where something like loose change could scratch it. You also do not want to submerge it in water, use an ultrasonic cleaner or household chemicals to clean it. As usual, I would use a damp cotton cloth to clean it, let it air dry and then use a polishing cloth.
