Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite Pendant (The Stone of Self Esteem)
Description: This tie-shaped pendant shows off the unique patterns Sonoran Dendritic stone slabs are known for. The source slab came from Nevada, in the United States. Dendrites are branching tree-like patterns formed by a foreign mineral in the host rock. These patterns often look like they grew organically. In my opinion, this is one of the premiere stones of the southwestern United States. I choose the tie shape because I felt it would really show off the dendritic pattern. The polish is satin-like. As usual, the pendant is topped with the sterling silver post bail I love to use. Pendant only price is $55, excluding any tax. Free USPS Ground Advantage shipping. USPS Priority shipping costs $10.
Please note: Currently my store can only sell to customers within the United States and its territories.
Approximate Size: The top is 3/8” wide and the widest point is 7/8”, which is only 3/16” from the bottom.. Height is just over 1 & 13/16”, not including the fitting. Thickness is 1/4”.
Care: I find a lot of conflicting information on the hardness of this stone. Some websites list it as low as 3.5 and some as high as 7 on the Mohs scale. I suspect there may be a few versions of rhyolite that get that low in hardness, but I believe most are in the 6 ballpark. The safe thing to do is to assume the stone is in the high soft range and treat it as such. Keep it protected from impacting or rubbing on hard objects. Store it in the protective bag provided and don’t immerse it in water. I would avoid using ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals. My recommendation for cleaning is using a bit of warm soapy water or maybe a damp cloth, followed by air drying, followed by a polishing cloth.
Folklore: In general, Rhyolites are believed to facilitate change and help one deal calmly with issues and challenges resulting from change. Most importantly, it helps maintain self-worth as those changes occur. Rhyolites are best known as Stones of Self Esteem.
Returns: Returns are allowed within 7 calendar days of receiving the stone jewelry. Customer must pay for return shipping. Stone jewelry must be in original condition with no damage. The refund will be processed once I receive the piece in original condition.
